About me

I'm René Kabel

I have worked in M&A from three different seats: as an advisor, as a buyer, and now — alongside a finance leadership role — as an independent advisor to both.

I started in transaction services, running financial due diligence for corporate and private equity clients. That work teaches you precisely how a company’s numbers come apart under examination, and what an acquirer does with what they find.

I then moved into corporate development, which is where it became genuinely interesting: end-to-end M&A alongside strategy and transformation work. I prepared a market entry strategy and then helped execute it. I valued each acquired division to report progress to the board. I owned every inbound acquisition lead — the first diligence pass, then the memorandum to the M&A committee. I built the acquisition pipeline together with the governance and capability needed to acquire repeatedly rather than occasionally, and I ran competitor monitoring to feed it.

Today I am Head of Finance at a software company. That keeps me close to the operational reality diligence findings actually land in — accounting, tax, reporting, controls — and it is also why I take a small number of advisory engagements rather than many.

I work in Danish and English, and I am based in Denmark.

Discretion

I do not name clients or transactions, and I do not publish case studies. What is discussed with me stays with me, including whether we spoke at all.
